MULTDISCIPLINARY TRAINING
Embers Athletics brings together three primary disciplines to develop strength, control, confidence, and personal expression.
SIVA AFI
Also known as the Samoan Fire Knife Dance, Siva Afi is the foundation of Embers Athletics with a root in cultural respect, history, and heritage. It evolved from the ancient Samoan exhibition called "Ailao," a display of a warrior’s battle prowess through twirling, throwing, and catching a war club. Originally performed with the Nifo Oti, the dance was used to reenact battles upon the warriors' return.
TRICKING
Tricking is a freestyle acrobatic discipline that combines elements of martial arts, gymnastics, and dance into a set of “tricks” that can range in complexity, look, and power. Tricking extends the bounds of Siva Afi by incorporating larger stunts and more dynamic movements commonly unseen. It develops mental and spacial awareness, allowing greater freedom of control and creativity.
CALISTHENICS
Strength training using body weight as resistance to build strength, improve coordination, and enhance cardiovascular fitness. Calisthenics supports both Siva Afi and Tricking as it helps develop the strength to execute movements, aids cardio endurance, body control, and unlocks new movements through wider ranges of motion and flexibility.
